Professor Chambers ending letter to
a fine history of his life and MAUSA.
Friends & Members:
I am closing in on
54 wonderful, active years in the martial arts. In some areas
however, It has taken it's
toll. I am 68 years of
age, have developing arthritis, several non-related martial
arts injuries & several surgeries in past three years. As a result of a
collapsed ladder, I fell to the concrete injuring both of my
shoulders & breaking my arm. Both of my shoulders had to be rebuilt
to include extensive physical therapy. My mother passed
away a month ago, and I have a physically handicapped older brother
to continue providing care for.
There comes a time
in every career, when a person must decide if it is his/her time to
retire and allow the younger/stronger teachers to continue your
work.
I have made that
decision to retire from the martial arts, and I have chosen a most
worthy and highly skilled
technical martial arts expert to inherit Martial Arts USA. Dr. Larry Beard
who is a Professor at Jacksonville University at Jacksonville,
Alabama will assume all
responsibility for Martial Arts USA. He is very knowledgeable of
Yudo, Jujitsu, Karate and Yusool.
Dr. Beard holds the rank of 8th Dan in Yudo/Judo.
A new webpage is
still under construction, but should be completed soon. You can see
the web (still under
construction) at:
www.martialartsusa.com
All future
contact, comments, questions, should be addressed to Professor Beard
at that address.
Please be advised;
All current and Life Memberships will be honored as such for the
duration of Professor Beard's martial arts life. At his retirement
or death, MAUSA will be passed on again to his
choice of the most qualified person.
There were a
number of MAUSA Life Members that were qualified to take the reins
of MAUSA. However, I had to determine who among those qualified
would have the time & energy to devote
to MAUSA, with complete assurance that MAUSA would continue growth
and moving forward for years to come! That choice was Professor
Larry Beard.
Please give
Professor Beard the same professional courtesy and cooperation that
you have always given to me. If he was not the best choice to fill
this position, then I would have made a different choice. Give him
the chance to prove his trust and direction is honorable and in the
best interest of MAUSA. If you doubt his technical skills, go play
with him on the mat!
I still have a
couple of current certification matters pending, and will follow
through on these, at the appropriate
time.
It has been a
great honor to be associated with all MAUSA members, and to all the
wonderful Masters & Grandmasters that I have been associate with
over the years. There are no finer people on the face of the earth
than those who are deeply committed to the Martial Arts, regardless
of style or affiliation.
I pray that God
will bless and keep each of you healthy and safe for as long as you
live.
I will miss and
think of you for as long as I live.
Professor John E.
