STAY ON PATH // YOU CAN SUCCEED By; Professor John Chambers NEVER SAY I CAN'T: Because of his massive body size and his tiny wings, scientists and physicists will tell you that it is structurally impossible, scientifically impossible, aerodynamically impossible, just plain out virtually impossible for a Bumble-Bee to lift off the ground and go airborne!
SOMEBODY FORGOT TO TELL THIS TO THE BUMBLE
BEE! Never give up your dream, regardless of those who will try to convince you to quit! For selfish reasons or envy, there are those who will try to discourage or tear you down. Never compromise your goal or standards for anyone or anything. Seek God's will and guidance. Hang in there, be patient and wait for His will to be done. Persistence is the key to success! Patience, perseverance and persistence go hand-in-hand! Most people who have what it takes to succeed understand this statement. Example: Consider the simple process of boiling water. Have you ever heard the statement?;...."A watched pot never boils!" A martial arts grandmaster once said to me; "Patience is concentrated strength!" Watching and waiting for a pot of water to boil, takes patience. Place a pot of water on the stove and become impatient. Take it off when you think you have waited long enough and you have warm water. This is sufficient if you just want to wash your face. If you are a bit more patient and persistent, wait until the water starts to bubble, (say at 211 degrees Fahrenheit), then you will have some real hot water that you can use to make soup. If you persevere just a bit longer than seems bearable, until the water reaches 212 degrees,...then you have steam! With steam, you can literally move mountains. In fact, with steam you can move just about anything. If you're getting just lukewarm results in your training or life, persevere. Eventually you'll reach your boiling point and really take off! In the martial arts, there is a thing we refer to as; fraternal association. This is a bonding that rises above the issues of race, color, creed, or religion. It is dedication and commitment to our arts, sharing our knowledge with others, building good moral character, promoting goodwill, assistance and most of all support. Working together is a fellowship of spiritual harmony, free of political pressure, bickering and rivalry. A true team member is striving for the same basic goals and success. I received an article this week with the title of: "And they call some of these people retarded". I would like to share this article that touched my heart in a big way, with my friends. The content of this article ties all the martial arts philosophy together in one neat package. There was a Special Olympics event for the mentally / physically disabled held at Seattle, bringing nine finalist together on the starting line for the 100 yard dash. At the gun, they all started out, not exactly in a dash, but all moving in the same direction toward the finish line. About twenty-yards into the race, one little boy stumbled on the asphalt, tumbled over a couple of times and began to cry. The other eight boys heard him cry. They slowed down and looked back to see the fallen boy with his skinned knees, sitting on the asphalt. Every one of the contestants went back to help the fallen boy. One child with Down's Syndrome bent down, hugged him and said; "This will make you feel better!" Then all the children linked arms and walked together to the finish line. Everyone in the stadium stood, and the cheering went on for several minutes. People who were there are still telling the story. Those precious handicapped children taught us one thing for sure: Deep down, we know what really matters in this life more than winning for ourselves, is helping others to win, even if it means slowing down and changing our course! We need to change our hearts!
